This fall, VaVia Columbia released its second CityStory video, a follow-up that checks-in on the team five years after opening. Not much about their approach has changed, and that’s exactly the point. Their story is a great example of what we believe makes a VaVia franchise thrive.
Consistency Is the Growth Strategy
In dumpster rental, customers rarely remember the container (though our good-looking brown dumpsters certainly make an impression!). They remember whether it showed up when it was supposed to, whether someone answered the phone, and whether the whole thing was easy. Get those right every time and customers come back, and they tell their neighbors.
That’s the playbook VaVia Columbia has followed since day one:
- Same-day and next-day delivery, so projects never stall waiting on a dumpster.
- Easy booking, online or by phone, with straightforward size options.
- Prompt, clear communication, so customers always know what to expect.
- Integrity, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence guiding every job.
Their steady reliability is what earns repeat contractor business and homeowner referrals, and it’s what gave the Columbia team the foundation to expand into new markets.
Local Ownership, Local Roots
VaVia is built on locally owned and operated franchises, and Columbia shows why that matters. Wyman and Lucas aren’t running a business from a distance. They’re part of every job, as well as the community they serve.
The Columbia team has fired up the Can Cafe grill for Epworth Children’s Home and the Forest Acres Police Department, supported back-to-school drives, and pitched in on community clean-ups. They’re also active members of the National Association of Home Builders and the Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina, staying connected to the builders and contractors who drive their business.
That combination of national brand support and genuine local investment is the heart of the VaVia model.
Watch the Story
Congratulations to Wyman, Lucas, and the entire Columbia crew on five years of showing up for their community. We can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings.
