We’re throwing a little party this month, because VaVia Columbia is turning five! Wyman Bowers and Lucas Bunch opened the VaVia Columbia September 28, 2021 with a momentum that hasn’t slowed. Watching them expand their operation, while rooting themselves in their community, is one of the many rewards of growing the VaVia network.
They Hit the Ground Running
From day one, Wyman and Lucas were all in on VaVia. That means top-notch service, the same-day and next-day guarantee, and staying in touch with customers every step of the way. They made their first residential delivery on October 8, 2021, just ten days after opening. It didn’t take long for word to spread around Columbia and the Midlands that VaVia delivered exceptional dumpster service.

One Market Became Three
But Columbia was just the beginning. Wyman and Lucas now also own VaVia Greenville and VaVia Charleston, so they’re serving customers across three South Carolina markets. And they’re still growing at home. In May 2026, they added 20-yard containers to the Columbia fleet, which opened the door to bigger residential and commercial jobs.
Neighbors First
When we talk about “locally owned and operated,” Wyman and Lucas are exactly who we have in mind. They’re active members of the Building Industry Association of Central South Carolina and they genuinely love giving back. They’ve hosted Can Cafe grill-outs for folks at Epworth Children’s Home and the Forest Acres Police Department, they’ve supported back-to-school drives, community clean-ups, and countless other acts of community kindness.

Here’s to the Next Five
Columbia’s story is a great reminder of what happens when people who care deeply about their community team up with a proven system and a brand that has their back. Five years in, Wyman and Lucas are still leading with integrity, teamwork, and a drive to be the best. We couldn’t be prouder.
Congrats, Wyman, Lucas, and the whole Columbia crew!
